Facts about Onsted, Michigan
Onsted, Michigan is located in northwestern Lenawee
County in Cambridge Township. This area is known as
the Irish Hills area, a picturesque, hilly region
surrounded by many small lakes. Onsted was organized
in 1884 by William Onsted, named after his father,
John, who was the first person to purchase land
here. It became a town as a result of the Michigan &
Ohio Railroad coming through here. It was eventually
incorporated as a village in 1907.
There
are so many places to visit and exciting things to
do in the Irish Hills area. Points of interest
include Stagecoach Stop USA, a nostalgic 1800's era
theme park with train rides, frontier gunfights and
Dwight D. Eisenhower's private railroad car. The
Michigan International Speedway is just minutes away
and there are more than 50 lakes in the area.
